Wanshan District has established stable partnerships with cattle farmers in areas such as beef marketing, technical services, and slaughtering and processing, thereby achieving unified processing and unified sales. This not only broadens sales channels for farmers and alleviates their concerns but also reduces breeding costs and enhances breeding efficiency, injecting vibrant vitality into the “cattle economy.”
Wanshan District has established stable partnerships with cattle farmers across various links—including beef marketing, technical services, and slaughtering and processing—enabling unified processing and sales. This approach not only broadens sales channels for farmers and alleviates their concerns but also reduces breeding costs and enhances breeding efficiency, injecting new vitality into the “cattle economy.”

Stepping into the beef cattle farm in Dalinshu Village, Gaolouping Township, we see hundreds of Simmental cattle leisurely resting in their barns. “These cattle were introduced three months ago, and now each one is well-fed and robust, weighing over a thousand jin. They’ll be ready for market soon,” says Zhang Meiming, Party branch secretary and village committee director, as he gazes fondly at the herd, his joy evident.

The Dashulin Village beef cattle breeding base is a key demonstration site that Wanshan District focused on developing in 2022. With fertile soil and abundant water and forage resources, the cattle raised here have low fat content and tender, flavorful meat. However, due to limited sales channels, the scale of cattle farming has long been difficult to expand. In 2023, with coordination from the government, the base partnered with Ruichang Fei Food Co., Ltd. This collaboration not only reduced the investment risks for the village’s collective enterprise but also alleviated the company’s challenges of insufficient beef supply and high costs, creating a win-win situation characterized by shared risks and shared benefits.

“After partnering with Rui Chang Fei, we’ve been relieved of all worries. Last year, we sold over 500 cattle, generating an output value of more than 6 million yuan and adding 160,000 yuan in income to the village’s collective economy. This year, we’ve expanded our breeding operations further and expect to sell over 600 cattle,” Zhang Meiming said.
The Ruichang Fei Food Co., Ltd., as mentioned by Zhang Meiming, is a modern enterprise integrating beef cattle breeding, slaughtering, beef processing, sales, and supporting services. It is also currently the only company in the city that has been approved for “Grade A” slaughtering qualifications. In its production workshop, workers are skillfully refining the processed beef, preparing it for weighing and packing. Outside the workshop, cold-chain transport vehicles have already lined up, ready to ensure that fresh beef reaches the market as quickly as possible.

“All 60 cattle slaughtered today come from our cooperative farmers. To ensure freshness, we’ve been delivering them overnight in refrigerated trucks, so that our customers can enjoy the freshest beef possible,” said Yang Dechang, General Manager of Ruichang Fei Food Co., Ltd.
In recent years, Wanshan District has supported this enterprise in extending its industrial chain and exploring a “company + contract-farming household” model, while promoting the “7355” investment mechanism for “village-enterprise joint operation and co-farming.” “That is, we provide 70% of the funding, while the farmers contribute 30%. Profits are split equally—50/50. This arrangement ensures that farmers don’t have to worry about technical expertise or sales channels, and they also benefit from full-process support and monitoring by the company, eliminating any risk for them,” explained Yang Dechang.

Currently, the company has partnered with 12 livestock farmers, maintaining a herd of 1,500 beef cattle. In 2024, through these partner farmers, the company expects to sell over 2,000 head of cattle, generating an output value exceeding 30 million yuan.
Yang Dechang stated that they will soon be collaborating with more farmers to expand both the herd size and the volume of cattle sold, working together to make the Wanshan beef industry bigger and stronger, so that more people can savor the "Wanshan flavor."

Today, Wanshan District leverages its advantages in beef processing and sales by fostering collaboration between slaughterhouses and livestock farmers, thereby establishing a seamless integrated “production-and-sales” model that covers the entire chain—from breeding to processing and marketing. This not only boosts enterprise development but also steadily enriches the people’s wallets. (District Integrated Media Center, Wu Chengpan)
